As a part of a spiritual retreat, I find it very helpful to bring along a devotional book, especially one that helps me look to the greatness, goodness, and beauty of God. Below are a few suggestions of possible chapters that could be read as a part of the Let the Thirsty Come retreat series. If you do read a chapter for a retreat, I recommend limiting yourself to one book and one chapter. Doing so helps you to more deeply ponder the things you read.
The Father’s Heart
The Knowledge of the Holy by A.W. Tozer – Chapter 16, “The Goodness of God”
Gentle and Lowly by Dane Ortlund – Chapter 17, “His Ways Are Not Our Ways”
The Knowledge of the Holy by A.W. Tozer – Chapter 18, “The Mercy of God”
